HHS Issues Final Rule on Establishment of Temporary Certification Program for HIT - June 22, 2010
On June 18, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published its final rule establishing a temporary certification program for testing and certifying health information technology (HIT). The National Coordinator for Health Information Technology will use the temporary program to test and certify Complete Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and/or EHR Modules, making certified EHR technology available prior to the date that providers must begin demonstrating the meaningful use of EHR in order to receive Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments. To learn more about the EHR incentive program and to receive up-to-date information, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has developed a useful website.
