Five New Regional HHS Directors Appointed - April 13, 2010
On April 6, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Katherine Sebelius announced the appointment of five new HHS regional directors. The directors are: Christie Hager, Region I – Boston (CT, ME, MA, NH, RI, VT); Jaime R. Torres, Region II – New York City (NY, NJ, NY, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands); Joanne Grossi, Region III – Philadelphia (PA, DE, DC, MD, PA, VA, WV); Marguerite Salazar, Region VIII – Denver (CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, WY); and Herb K. Schultz, Region IX – San Francisco (AZ, CA, HI, NV, Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Islands). Regional directors play a critical role in maintaining contact between federal officials and state, local, and tribal government and non-governmental partners, ensuring that HHS programs are effectively implemented at the local level.
