HHS Releases $40 Million in CHIP Enrollment Grants - July 10, 2009

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the availability of $40 million in outreach grants to identify families whose children are eligible but not enrolled in state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Programs (CHIP) and to assist these families to enroll in the programs. Entities eligible to apply for the grants include: state and local governments; national, state, local, or community-based public or private nonprofit organizations; and federal health safety net organizations, among others. Grant applications must be submitted prior to August 6, 2009. HHS will make available an additional $40 million in outreach grants in a subsequent award cycle.
