HHS Announces $750 Million in Prevention Funding - February 16, 2011

On Feb. 9, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced it would be awarding up to $750 million in funds for preventative services including tobacco use prevention, obesity, heart disease, stroke cancer and increased immunizations. The funding comes from the Prevention and Public Health Fund, authorized under the Affordable Care Act, and builds off of $500 million granted to states and communities last year for prevention and public health efforts.
