CMS to Conduct Survey on Payments to Providers for HCACs - July 20, 2010

On July 12, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued an announcement that it would be conducting a survey of states regarding current state practices related to payments to providers for health care-acquired conditions (HCACs). This survey, conducted pursuant to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, will help identify current state Medicaid practices that prohibit payment for HCACs, with the goal of integrating those practices that CMS deems most appropriate into the Medicaid program.
