Administration Releases FY 2011 Budget Request - February 2, 2010

Yesterday, the Administration released its fiscal year (FY) 2011 budget request, kicking off the annual budget cycle. Total budgetary spending is $3.8 trillion, with a projected $1.3 trillion deficit—down from $1.6 trillion in 2010. Budget documents are available here as well as state impacts of the proposal. Most notably, the President has called for a six-month extension of the temporary increase in the Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (FMAP) that Congress adopted as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Such an extension would provide $25.5 billion in additional Medicaid funding to states through June 2011.
