HHS Publishes FY 2012 State FMAPs - November 16, 2010
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Nov. 10 published a notice of the Fiscal Year 2012 Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAPs) by state. Under the Social Security Act, the Secretary of HHS must calculate FMAP rates each year, based on the per capita income of each state. In addition to the standard FMAPs, HHS also included “enhanced FMAP,” which is used in the Children’s Health Insurance Program and for certain specific Medicaid expenditures. The figures do not, however, reflect the additional FMAP bump authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which under current law will end June 30, 2011.
