FMAP Stalled for Now – NAPH Co-Hosting July 15 Fly-In - June 30, 2010

After the Senate failed last week to pass H.R. 4213 – a jobs and tax extenders bill, including an extension of enhanced Medicaid funding for states (FMAP) –congressional leaders are struggling to find a path forward on FMAP. Although it is not clear how they will move forward, House and Senate leadership offices have assured NAPH that they would like to pass an FMAP extension. Today, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has re-introduced a slimmed down version of H.R. 4213, which does not include FMAP. The Senate will likely vote on that bill this week.

NAPH will join the American Hospital Association and other national hospital trade groups for a fly-in on July 15. The key issues will be FMAP along with hospital payment reductions as part of the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System rule. NAPH encourages all hospitals to plan to participate in the fly-in, if possible. We will send more detailed information as soon as it is available.
