NAPH Urges Changes to Proposed Rule for EHR Certification - April 13, 2010

On April 9, NAPH submitted comments to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) on its proposed rule regarding the certification of electronic health record (EHR) systems for the purpose of hospitals receiving federal grant funding under the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs. In its letter, NAPH urged ONC to acknowledge the flexibility afforded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and to adopt a procedure so that hospitals can receive Medicaid EHR incentives prior to fiscal year 2011.
