Nye Circulates “Dear Colleague Letter” on Exempting Children’s Hospitals from DSH Cuts - October 13, 2009

Working with his local children’s hospital, Rep. Glenn Nye (D-VA) is circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter in the House of Representatives that asks House leaders to exempt freestanding children’s hospitals from proposed cuts to Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments. Because such an exemption would effectively mean that other hospitals would see larger DSH cuts, NAPH is not recommending that Members of Congress sign the letter. NAPH continues to work with the National Association of Children’s Hospitals on advocating for lowered overall cuts to DSH funding in health reform.
