NAPH Executive Director Chris Burch Represents NAPH at White House Health Reform Meeting - August 14, 2009

NAPH Executive Director Chris Burch participated in an August 10 White House health reform roundtable on advanced models of primary care that improve coordination and patient health. NAPH was the only hospital association invited to participate. Allen Dobson of NAPH member Carolinas Medical Center, was one of six participants who presented on innovative primary care programs. Dobson presented on the Community Care of North Carolina program, under which Medicaid enrollees receive care through non-profit local community networks, including one offered by the Carolinas Medical Center. In her comments at the meeting, Burch emphasized the importance of establishing advanced models of primary care for uninsured populations, as well as for the insured, highlighting the important role that collaborative care networks can play in health reform.
