Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Seeks Comments on Quality Measures Under Development - August 14, 2009

The Quality Measurement and Health Assessment Group of CMS is soliciting comments on several Medicare quality measures under development for potential use in national reporting. This solicitation of comments is part of CMS’ Quality Measures Management Information System, through which CMS tracks all stages of the development and use of quality measures. CMS is developing two cardiac outcomes measures based on registry and claims data: complications following implantable cardioverter defibrillator implantation and readmission following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Comments related to these cardiac measures must be submitted online by August 25, 2009. CMS is also developing four hospital outpatient measures, including two related to PCI, one related to pulmonary rehabilitation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and one related to cataract surgery. Comments related to these outpatient measures must be submitted online by August 28, 2009.
