CMS Issues Proposed CHIP Allotment Rule - September 28, 2009

CMS has issued a proposed rule establishing methodologies and procedures for determining state Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) allotments under the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act (CHIPRA) for FY 2009 through FY 2013. The proposed rule also sets forth state allotments for FY 2009, the redistribution of unexpended FY 2006 allotments to address state shortfalls in FY 2009, and the retrospective adjustment provided under CHIPRA for FY 2008 shortfall funding. Comments on the proposed rule must be submitted by November 16, 2009.
