CMS Announces National Call to Discuss Medicare Shared Savings Program - November 8, 2011

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced a national provider call, targeted for Medicare fee-for-service providers, scheduled for Nov. 15, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. EST. On this call, CMS experts will discuss the application process for the Medicare Shared Savings Program and the Advanced Payment Model. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. Registration for this call is open until 12:00 p.m. EST on Nov. 15.

In October, CMS issued the final rule to establish the Medicare Shared Savings Program and provided notice for the Advanced Payment Model. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of care for patients through provider participation in Medicare accountable care organizations. The first step of the application process for the Shared Savings Program is to submit a Notice of Intent Memo, which is now available for download. CMS recommends that call participants review the application prior to the call.
