CMS Announces Health Care Innovation Challenge - November 15, 2011

On Nov. 14, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the launch of the Health Care Innovation Challenge. Funded by the Affordable Care Act,$1 billion in grants will be awarded to innovative projects that deliver high-quality care and reduce costs to those enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. Grants will range from $1 million to $30 million over 3 years, and preference will be given to projects that rapidly hire, train, and deploy health care workers. Applications are open to providers, payers, local governments, and community-based organizations. More information about the Health Care Innovation Challenge can be found online.
