85 Community Health Centers Receive Recovery Act Funds - December 15, 2009

Obama announced the award of $600 million in grants to 85 community health centers (CHCs) to support CHC construction, projects, and implementation of electronic health records programs. These grants are funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In addition to announcing the grant awards, the President also announced that CMS will be creating a three-year demonstration program designed to establish medical homes for Medicare beneficiaries who receive care at CHCs. As many as 500 CHCs nationwide are expected to participate in the demonstration program.
