BMC HealthNet Plan Ranked #2 Among Medicaid Plans - November 17, 2009

U.S. News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) have ranked NAPH member Boston Medical Center’s (BMC’s) HealthNet Plan second among U.S. Medicaid plans. The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on results from consumer surveys conducted by the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems and on plan performance on 33 illness prevention and treatment measures. BMC HealthNet Plan also has earned NCQA’s highest rating for two quality measures related to diabetes care and smoking cessation. Created in 1997, BMC HealthNet Plan currently serves 184,000 Medicaid beneficiaries through 60 hospitals and 15,000 healthcare providers in Massachusetts. The plan also serves 60,000 members in Commonwealth Care, the Massachusetts subsidized insurance program. NAPH congratulates BMC on this tremendous accomplishment!
