HHS Announces Additional HIT Training Funds - January 5, 2010
HHS has announced the availability of health information technology training funds aimed at expanding the number of highly qualified individuals to serve in HIT professional roles. HHS will award $32 million in competitive grants through its Program of Assistance for University-Based Training to 8 to 12 institutions of higher education to develop HIT programs. The agency also will award $6 million through its Program for Competency Examination for Individuals Competing Non-Degree Training to an institution of higher education to develop competency examinations for individuals who have completed non-degree training for HIT professional roles. The application submission deadline for both grant programs is January 25, 2010. Additionally, letters of intent for the competency examination grant program are due by January 8, 2010.
